With 44 years of expertise in the field of water damage, Craftech is there to help you with expertise and urgency!

Water can cause a tremendous amount of damage in a short time, and if not taken care of in a timely manner can cause mold to grow in your home.

By choosing to work with a certified mitigation provider you are taking the first step in returning your home or business property back to its pre-loss condition.

Potential sources of water damage:

  • Washing machine hoses
  • Failed sump pumps
  • Sewer backup
  • Hot water heaters
  • Bursting pipes/frozen pipes
  • Rain from windows or roofs
  • Refrigerator water lines
  • Dish washer malfunctions
  • Ice Dams
  • Toilet supply lines/ overflows
  • Sink overflows
  • And many others

First steps when water damage occurs:

  • Contact a plumber to repair the water source
  • Remove standing water as soon as possible
  • Put furniture on blocks or tin foil to keep the legs dry
  • Open windows to ventilate if possible
  • If water comes from a potentially hazardous source, call Craftech first!
(ie: Sewage, toilets, ground water or washing machine drain lines)
  • WHAT NOT TO DO: remove water using a  household vacuum or shop vac, leave electronics plugged in, enter rooms with significant damage, try and remove any mold forming yourself.

  • What should I do after water damage?

Water damage is a time sensitive emergency. Don't waste any time to take care of this issue.

    • Contact a plumber to repair the water source ASAP
    • Contact Craftech to remove standing water as soon as possible and being the restoration process
    • If water comes from a hazardous source (sewage, etc.) call Craftech before doing anything else!
    • Unplug all electronics ASAP
    • Put furniture on blocks or tin foil
    • Open windows to ventilate if applicable
  • What can I do myself after water damage?

Follow steps from Question 1 & the following:

    • Try to determine where the water is coming from and secure the break.  If you can’t, shut off your water at the main water supply valve.  This is usually located near the street.
    • Take photos of everything you must throw away for your insurance company.
    • Remove as much water as possible by mopping, shop vacuuming ( DO NOT use a regular vacuum) and blotting.
    • Wipe furniture dry, lift draperies off of the carpet (loop through a coat hanger and place the hanger on the rod).
    •  Place wood blocks or aluminum foil under the legs of furniture.  Remove wet area rugs or other moveable floor coverings.
    • Remove photos, paintings, art objects and other valuables to a safe dry area.
    • Wet books and papers should be spread out to dry in a safe dry area.

*If damage occurs in a cool season make sure the heat remains on.  If it’s hot run air conditioning this will draw out moisture.

  • When do I need to contact professionals?

As soon as possible! Water damage is a time sensitive emergency and should be treated as such to avoid further damage or mold growth.

  • What should I avoid doing after water damage?

    DON'T

    • remove water using a  household vacuum
    • leave electronics plugged in
    • enter rooms with significant damage
    • try and remove any mold forming yourself
  • How long does it take for mold to grow after water damage?

Depending on the time of year due to heat and humidity, mold can start growing in as little as 48 hours during hot humid months or as long as a month in the dry cold winter.

  • After restoration cleanup, do I keep my windows open?

Please keep the windows and doors closed, when they are open it creates an open drying chamber allowing the outside air to interfere with our drying process.

  • Should I turn off drying equipment at night?

We encourage our customers to leave our equipment running 24 hours a day, the longer it is off, the longer it will take for your home to dry out.

They were amazing! Very respectful and courteous. I dealt personally with 2 teams and both were remarkably professional and knowledgeable. It had snowed and although the driveway was clear for them, they went the extra mile and put ice melt down without being asked. Huge bonus! These kids deserve recognition! I was extremely grateful!! Highly recommend!!
